Atelier Foods: Still Life

One of the things that allows the “arts” to be accessible to anyone is the fact that “art” can be made from virtually anything.  Art can be your classic forms of paintings, sculptures or photography…or it can be a living display, or even an edible one.

Combining my two loves:  food and art (okay—two of my many loves, chocolate and science are up there too!) is this body of art made from food! This project Still life for the Swedish food lab •Atelier Food, is a collaboration between a chef, an art director and a photographer – all individual artists in their own right.

Petter Johansson, art director and designer on the project, wanted to show the connection between food and society.  Different foods has been laid out in a colorful grid, creating a 3 dimensional foodscape or city map.  I wonder if it were photographed from the side, if the topography element would be present?  Like shooting down a busy Manhattan street with tall skyscrapers and box buildings…

Then photographer Henrik Petersson documented the collaborative project that seeks global innovation and solutions through food.
